Yellowstone Family Activities

Day 1

Daily activities pending availability, book early

Cabin check-in, 3 - 8pm.

Spend the day seeing some of the sites in Yellowstone, go for a hike, soak in a hot spring, see Old Faithful blow its top, do your grocery shopping for the week. Check in, relax, and enjoy one of the most unique houses/cabins anywhere.

Close the evening with a barbeque on the 320 sq foot deck overlooking the Yellowstone River, and watch the sunset on Electric Peak (11,000ft).

Day 2

A full day of whitewater rafting on the Yellowstone River

Your trip will depart just 30ft downstream of your cabin at 9am. Raft class 1-4 rapids and enjoy a riverside picnic lunch on your 18 mile guided voyage downstream.

Finish up your adventure by 3pm. Spend the afternoon and evening at your own pace. Maybe try throwing a line in the water below the house and catch rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, brown trout, or mountain whitefish. Be sure to have a valid Montana fishing license.

Day 3

Tour Yellowstone Park

We will recommend what routes to take and some "off the beaten path" things to do. Must See: Old Faithful, Yellowstone Lake, Upper and Lower Fall, and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

Eat dinner at Roosevelt Lodge and sit on the same porch sipping beverages as President Teddy Roosevelt did 100 years ago!

Day 4

Half Day Horseback Ride

Depart at 9am. You are in for a treat as you cowboy-up at our high mountain ranch. The views are spectacular, the cowboys are real, and the groups are small. Make sure you bring your camera.

After your ride, we recommend a nice long soak in the local Hot Spring (3 miles away) called the Boiling River. Or drive about 30 minutes to Historic Chico Hot Springs for a more refined experience (this is also where owners Geoff and Liza were married).

Yes, cocktails are allowed in the pool. It is very family friendly with two dining options: the poolside grill or the 4 star, nationally acclaimed but casual dining room. Make reservations for the dining room ahead of time!

Day 5

Yellowstone Wildliffe Safari

Departs at 7am. Don't worry coffee and hot drinks are provided to keep those eyes open. This will be a highlight for wildlife lovers and natural history buffs. The day includes all transportation, use of high quality binoculars and spotting scopes, a short hike, and lunch.

During the trip, lasting 6-7 hours, you will acquire an astounding amount of information about the park and see a lot of wildlife. After the trip the evening is all yours. This is your last night in the house, so get out a board game, watch the sunset, and enjoy a nice dinner on the deck.

Day 6

Check-out time is 10am.

Enjoy the rest of your trip. Possibly see those last few sites in the park and head down the road with your memories.
