OVERNIGHT RAFT TRIP ITINERARY

Day 1: Thrilling rapids, riverside relaxation, and campfire stargazing.

We’ll start the journey rafting through class II and III rapids for about 45 minutes until we reach our riverside camp.

Complete with a private beach, firepit, cook shack and comfy chairs, our unique campsite offers the perfect getaway for a night under the stars.

Your accommodation awaits in a canvas wall tent or teepee, outfitted with single beds, mattresses, sleeping bags, and pillows for your comfort–just bring your pajamas and personal items.

Nearby, a bathhouse equipped with running water, electricity, and outdoor showers offers modern conveniences in the heart of nature.

That evening, relax and play at the campsite before dinner. Swim in the river, fly fish, or enjoy a friendly game of croquet or tetherball. Unwind in the sunshine, admiring the vistas of Yellowstone National Park on the other side of the river.

As the day turns to night, gather around the campfire for delicious s’mores and stargazing, lulled to sleep by the river’s gentle flow.

Overnight Rafting FAQs

What camping gear do you provide for the overnight raft trip?

The overnight raft trip includes all bedding and towels—clean sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, and towels. We also provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

Guests sleep in outfitter-style canvas wall tents complete with real beds and mattresses. It’s a great mix of camping and “glamping.”

What personal items should I pack for the overnight camping trip? How are these items transported to camp?

Pack a light overnight bag for your trip with a change of clothes for camp, dry shoes and socks, a light jacket or sweatshirt for when the sun dips behind the mountains in the evening, a headlamp, plus personal items like a toothbrush, toothpaste, and any desired toiletries.

We provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

We’ll transport your bag down to the overnight camp so it’s waiting for you when you get off the river.

Does the campsite have bathrooms and showers?

Yes! Our riverside campsite features a permanent bathhouse just steps from your canvas wall tent. Unlike most remote rafting trips that use portable toilets, you’ll have flush toilets, running water for handwashing and brushing teeth, and outdoor hot showers with mountain views.

A warm shower under the stars after a day on the river is one of the highlights of the trip!

Is there a way to charge my devices on the trip?

We have electricity in some common spaces at the overnight camp so you can charge devices. Most carriers get limited service at camp, so you can receive and send texts, but phone calls and internet access are spotty.

Where can I park my vehicle and store luggage during the trip?

Street parking for overnight rafting trips is available next to the Flying Pig offices. Extra luggage can be stored in vehicles and you can keep valuables like laptops in our shop office, where they can be picked up the following day.

What meals are provided on the overnight trip? Can you accommodate dietary needs?

We provide a beautiful dinner and breakfast at the overnight river camp, and a sack lunch is provided on the water on the second day. We have the ability to get creative as we have a couple of blackstones, Dutch ovens, and even a pizza oven to allow for a wide variety of meals!

Common menu items are fajitas, lasagna, steaks, and even build your own pizzas! We will also do some sort of dessert and of course, s’mores over the campfire. Breakfast is a more standard menu with bacon, eggs, and pancakes along with orange juice and hot coffee. Meals are one of the highlights of the overnight raft trip for both guests and guides!

We will call the day before your trip to talk through a potential menu and confirm any dietary restrictions.

What activities can we do at river camp?

For guests with a Montana fishing license, basic fishing gear is available to cast a line. We also have horseshoes, a tetherball set up, and cornhole on the beach.

If relaxing and reading a book or having a cold drink is more your speed, we have several Adirondack chairs by the river complete with mountain views, ideal for rest and relaxation.

“We did an overnight rafting trip with Jaxon and had the best time. Jaxon was so knowledgeable about the area, and so great with the tweens on our boat ride. The food at the camp site was amazing, and we had such a great time at the overnight. Highly recommend Flying Pig – everyone was so helpful, especially Sami. I will recommend this to everyone I know coming to Yellowstone because I think it is a can’t miss experience.”
