About our rafting trips:

Looking for exciting whitewater, breathtaking scenery, and awesome river guides? Join us on the Yellowstone River for a whitewater rafting trip led by Flying Pig Adventure Company. Located in Gardiner, Montana at the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park, we are the experts in whitewater rafting that Yellowstone visitors have come to rely on for an adventure that is thrilling and exhilarating, yet safe and enjoyable for all ages and experience levels.

Flying Pig’s group adventures in whitewater rafting are kept small for maximum enjoyment and personal attention. Our experienced, friendly guides help to navigate through calm waters and challenging rapids (ranging from Class I to sometimes Class IV during high water). Your river rafting trip will provide scenic views of 11,000 foot peaks and colorful rock formations along your route. Best of all, at day’s end, you will be able to boast about surviving rapids with names like Boxcar, Queen of the Waters and Sleeping Giant.  Additionally, we are the only company in town that lowers the boat to the river, using a system of pulleys and cables.  We’ll lower the boat while you’ll walk down a path to the water’s edge.  We make it easy and do all the work for you!

Don’t settle for an ordinary float! A Yellowstone whitewater rafting trip with Flying Pig Adventure Company is an exciting adventure on one of America’s great rivers. You’ll remember your Yellowstone river rafting journey for a lifetime!

The perfect family whitewater rafting adventure! Our overnight raft trip provides just the right mix of thrills and relaxation. Experience Montana’s beauty: the endless starry sky, the Eagles of the Paradise Valley, the jagged caps of Emigrant Peak, the waters of the pristine Yellowstone River, world class trout fishing, and the genuine hospitality of Montanans.

Day 1: Enjoy early morning wildlife watching in the park, then check in with us at 3:00pm. We’ll suit you up for four miles of class II and III rapids, including the wild “town stretch”, sure to get you wet!  A stretch of calm water will allow you to catch your breath before arriving at the campsite on the banks of the Yellowstone River.  We have a fully-outfitted camp set up on the river’s edge, complete with a cook shack, fire pit, and comfy chairs on the rivers edge.  Upon arrival you can settle into your wall tent (or teepee!) as guides prepare hors d’oeuvres.  Your accommodations feature single beds with mattresses, sleeping bags and pillows….all you need to bring are your PJ’s and your personal items!  Just a few steps away is the bathhouse with two bathrooms, electricity, and outdoor showers for guys and gals.

While dinner is cooking, jump in the river, throw a fishing line in, or start up a round of croquet or tether-ball.  Of course, sitting quietly in the sunshine to take in the views of majestic 11,000 foot Electric Peak directly across the river isn’t a bad option either!  Finish the evening cozy around a campfire (with S’mores of course) while staring up at a blanket of stars. The lull of the river will send you peacefully off to sleep in your sleeping bag!

Day 2: Wake up to crisp air and hot coffee to sip around the fire (early AM risers may enjoy a wander on the trail upriver). After a hot breakfast, you’ll ready your gear and snap the lifejackets back on for another 14 miles down the river!  The morning float contains miles of beautiful scenery, calm stretches of river mixed with intermittent rapids and includes a stop for a delicious lunch on the river’s edge.  Don’t be fooled by the lazy flow of the river after lunch because just ahead lies the Class III rapids of the famous Yankee Jim Canyon– a highlight for all rafters!

Once you’re safely off the river, we’ll take you by bus back to the Flying Pig Adventure Center where your overnight gear will be waiting for you.  Don’t forget to check out the professional photos of your rafting adventure on the flat screen in our store!

Come join us for this unforgettable experience! Our guests repeatedly voice this as the highlight of their Yellowstone Vacation; it can be yours too, give us a call before the seats fill-up.
